About Ruby
I’m a true animal lover who grew up with rescue beagles and stray cats. Having house sat for all kinds of dogs and cats, I get to understand first-hand that every animal has their own personality, quirks and needs. Some of my pets have been challenging at times, but they’ve taught me how important patience, understanding and building trust can be.
I’ve cared for all kinds of dogs, from huge Great Danes and energetic Huskies to Pitbulls, Staffies, Golden Retrievers, tiny 16-week-old puppies and cheeky rescue Beagles with a serious eye for picnics! I’ve also cared for cats, rabbits, parrots, Guinea pigs, chickens, horses and a host of other animals, and I’m happy adapting to each pet’s individual routine.
For the past few years I’ve been regularly house sitting through another platform, so while I’m new to Pawshake, I’m definitely not new to house sitting or caring for animals. I’m responsible, tidy and respectful of people’s homes, and I understand how important it is to leave your home safe and cared for as well as keeping your pet happy. I’m also a keen photographer, so I always send regular photos and video updates, meaning you’ll never have to wonder how your pet is doing in your absence!
I’m comfortable giving medication when needed and have experience caring for cats with diabetes and nerve problems, as well as dogs recovering from surgery. I understand how important it is to follow medication and recovery routines carefully and consistently, and I’m happy to follow your vet’s instructions and your pet’s usual routine.
For walks, I usually allow 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the dog’s age, energy levels and individual needs. I prefer to walk dogs in their own local area, using familiar routes and nearby parks where possible, so they can enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable walk in surroundings they know. I’m happy to adapt the pace and length of walks to suit each dog, whether they need a longer energetic walk or something slower and more gentle.
Home visits are around 45 minutes, giving your pet plenty of time for whatever they need — whether that’s feeding, fresh water, a toilet break, medication, playtime, cuddles or simply some company. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine and make sure they receive the attention and care they’re used to.
Whether your pet needs long walks, playtime, medication, extra patience, cuddles or simply someone to stick closely to their normal routine, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, loved and well cared for while you’re away in their own space.
P.S. I’m also happy to take on longer house sits, including extended stays over the Christmas and New Year period. I’m flexible with dates and would be happy to discuss longer bookings with owners.
