Bournemouth
About Anna
Overview - Hi everyone, my name is Anna, and together with my family we are true dog lovers. Dogs have always brought so much joy, warmth, and happiness into our home, and that is why we decided to offer a home-based dog boarding service in a safe, loving, and family environment.
When your dog stays with us, they will not just be “boarded” — they will be welcomed as part of our family. We understand how important it is to leave your dog with someone you can trust, so we do everything we can to make each dog feel safe, settled, loved, and comfortable from the moment they arrive.
We offer a calm, caring, and supervised home environment where your dog’s normal routine will be followed as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, play, rest, cuddles, and any individual needs they may have. Every dog is different, so we take the time to get to know their personality, habits, likes, dislikes, and any worries they may have.
Our aim is to give owners complete peace of mind, knowing their dog is being cared for by a responsible, trustworthy, and pet-loving family. We are happy to provide regular updates and photos during your dog’s stay, so you can relax knowing they are safe, happy, and receiving plenty of love and attention.
With us, your dog will be cared for like one of our own.
Insurance - I also believe in doing things properly and responsibly. That is why I hold specialist pet insurance designed specifically for home dog boarding services and in line with local authority licensing expectations. This includes public liability cover of up to £10 million, offering protection in the unlikely event of injury or damage involving dogs in my care.
My insurance also includes care, custody and control cover, which means dogs staying with me are protected in the unlikely event of illness, injury, or loss while under my supervision. I hope this gives owners extra reassurance that their dog will be cared for in a safe, responsible, and well-prepared home environment.
Fully Licensed and Approved - I know how much trust it takes to leave your beloved dog with someone else, and I want every pet owner to feel confident and reassured when choosing our family. That’s why I am also fully licensed, which means I have been formally approved by BCP Council to provide home dog boarding services.
Having a licence means that our home, care arrangements, safety measures, and the way we look after dogs have been checked to make sure they meet the required standards for home dog boarding. It gives owners extra peace of mind that their dog will be staying in a safe, suitable, and responsible home environment.
For us, being licensed is not just a requirement — it is part of doing things properly and showing pet owners that their dog’s welfare, comfort, and happiness will always come first.
Experience with Animals - As a family, we have many years of practical experience caring for animals, including our own pets, pets belonging to friends and family, and dogs who have stayed with us through home boarding.
We have looked after dogs of different ages, breeds, sizes, and personalities, from young energetic dogs who need plenty of exercise, play, and stimulation, to older dogs who need a slower pace, gentle handling, comfort, and extra patience.
We also have experience caring for dogs with health needs, mobility difficulties, separation anxiety, nervousness, and behavioural challenges. We understand that every dog is different, so we always take time to learn their routine, temperament, body language, and individual needs.
Our experience includes high-energy breeds such as Dobermans and Pomskies, as well as smaller dogs with big personalities, including feisty Chihuahuas and playful Dachshunds.
This experience has helped us become confident, patient, and attentive carers who understand the importance of routine, consistency, supervision, and responding to each animal as an individual.
Training - To further enhance my knowledge and ensure high standards of care in a pet boarding setting, I have completed the following training:
- Pet Sitting Training
- Canine Behaviour Training
- Grooming Training
- Pet First Aid & CPR
Additionally, I am a nurse by background and currently work as an NHS professional. The training I have completed through this role has given me valuable knowledge and skills that can also be directly applied to providing safe, responsible, and attentive animal care.
- Fire Safety Training
- Food Safety & Hygiene Training
- Infection Control
- Health and Safety
- As an NHS professional, I hold a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which is a background check used to confirm whether someone has a criminal record or is barred from working with vulnerable people. I hope this gives pet owners extra reassurance that I am a trustworthy and responsible person.
Location - We are ideally located next to Turbary Common, one of Bournemouth’s important nature reserves and the largest area of heathland in north Bournemouth. It offers a lovely natural setting with heathland, wooded areas, scrub, and peaceful walking routes, giving dogs plenty of interesting sights and smells to enjoy.
Being so close to this beautiful green space means we can offer varied daily walks with opportunities for gentle exercise, sniffing, exploring, and mental stimulation. We are always mindful that Turbary Common is a protected nature reserve, so walks are planned responsibly and in line with local guidance, including lead requirements when needed.
Because we have flexible working routines and someone is always at home, we can offer up to three walks per day where appropriate. This can be especially helpful for younger dogs, energetic breeds, or dogs who benefit from extra stimulation and structure.
All walks are tailored to each dog’s age, energy level, ability, routine, and owner preferences, so every dog gets the right balance of exercise, enrichment, and rest.
Garden - We also have a fully secured, spacious garden where dogs can enjoy safe outdoor time throughout the day. It is a lovely space for supervised play, stretching their legs, exploring, and of course doing plenty of important sniffing!
Equipment / Crate - If your pet is crate-trained or enjoys having their own enclosed resting space, we can provide a suitable crate for small to medium-sized dogs, so there is no need to bring your own. Crate size: 70 cm (H) × 80.5 cm (W) × 59 cm (D). In addition, for maximum safety and peace of mind, we use two secure safety gates positioned within the home. These are placed in doorways to help manage movement around the house and significantly reduce any risk of accidental escape. This allows us to maintain a controlled, safe environment while still giving your pet plenty of space to relax and move comfortably.
Children - We have two considerate children aged 10 and 14. They are calm, respectful, and used to being around animals. Your pet will receive plenty of positive attention; however, we fully understand that not all pets enjoy cuddles or constant interaction. If your pet prefers their own space, this will always be respected.
Smoke-Free Home - Our home is completely smoke-free, providing a clean, fresh, and healthy environment. Your pet will return home relaxed and comfortable — no lingering smells, just happy memories.
How Pet Care Fits Into Our Routine - Your pet will never be left unattended for long periods. My husband works from home full-time, providing constant presence and supervision, while I also work from home 4 days a week with flexible hours. This allows us to maintain consistent routines for feeding, walks, medication (if required), playtime, and rest. Your pet will benefit from a calm, settled environment with plenty of companionship throughout the day.
Rules and Routine - We respect and follow your pet’s established routines and house rules. Whether that means no furniture access or full “four-legged royalty” privileges, we’ll stick to what works best for your pet. From structured days to relaxed evenings with gentle company (and the occasional Netflix cuddle), we’ll ensure your pet’s stay feels familiar, safe, and enjoyable.
Capacity- I take a maximum of 3 dogs at any one time — but that doesn’t mean it’s always a
full house. Every booking is carefully considered based on:
- Each dog’s personality and needs
- Their size and temperament
- How well they’ll mix with others
Because of this, I sometimes have fewer than 3 dogs, and in some cases, I may be able to offer solo boarding for your dog — depending on availability.
Professional Background - I am a registered Mental Health Nurse by background with extensive experience working within the NHS, delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care in complex and dynamic environments.
Through my clinical role, I have developed highly transferable skills that are directly applicable to dog boarding, including:
- Dynamic risk assessment and risk management
- Continuous observation and early identification of changes in condition or behaviour
- Safeguarding and duty of care responsibilities
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, infection prevention, and environmental safety
- Accurate documentation and record keeping
- Responding promptly and appropriately to emerging risks or concerns
These competencies enable me to provide a consistently safe, controlled, and well-managed environment for all dogs in my care.
Clinical Skills Applied to Animal Care - My professional experience has strengthened my ability to:
- Recognise early signs of distress, illness, or behavioural change
- Respond quickly and appropriately to maintain safety and welfare
- Implement structured, calm, and predictable care routines
- Provide reassurance and reduce anxiety in unfamiliar environments
This is particularly relevant in a home boarding setting, where close monitoring and early intervention are essential to maintaining animal welfare.
Medication Competency - I am trained and experienced in the safe administration of medication, including:
- Accurate dosing
- Safe handling procedures
- Monitoring for side effects
- Maintaining clear and auditable records
While this experience is based in human healthcare, the principles are directly transferable. This enables me to safely support dogs requiring routine oral medication, strictly in accordance with veterinary guidance and owner instructions.
