I have kept poultry and pigs In the past on our smallholding. I was brought up on a small holding and went to agricultural college.I have had several dogs come to our family for their holidays so have experience of various breeds and a feel for their fears and excitements. I can wade in with a bit of discipline when needed, and would much rather avoid trouble than allow it build up. I don't mix animals which might naturally chase something they shouldn't so if a walk says "keep dogs on a lead" then be assured that this what will happen!
I seem to find myself often looking after dogs for people: on my holidays/ for friends/as a favour and enjoy it. So ,now having lots of free time and a desire to move about the country and the continents, it's a natural thing to put myself on the books, so to speak..I'm willing to travel and am also availalbe in Ireland.
For me, it's less about the money and more about the opportunity.I can deal with most domestic animals: and given a few clues, yours will be well looked after. I can shove pigs where they don't want to go and bribe goats too. Poultry are fine with me: as are aviary birds. I had an owl at one time and walked him with the goats and the odd cat....
Smaller cage pets have always been great company and a pleasure to look after: goldfish and Aquarian included.
I want to do house sits with pets: I am not able to do daily drop in as I can give more to you as a live in person. Plant care, lawn mowing, the security aspect etc. With sensible notice, distance isn't a problem. Town and country. I can also drive a tractor and am handy with a chainsaw......
What a Find, a really lovely helpful lady, when I need a Dog Sitter Jan is the lady, Kept me informed while away she looked after my big Blind Great Dane and my Bear.
They were looked after very well, also Jan left my house as she found it, Clean Tidy.
If anyone wants a very good reliable person then book Jan 1st Class service.
Can't speak highly enough of Jan - she's a treasure.
I have natural animal husbandry skills. If I can't do it I don't do it. There's no point in unnecessary risks. Give me the instructions: I have common sense.
Recently I have encouraged a naughty dog into behaving properly on walks with its handicapped owner and it's fellow barkers. There's no need to come into an established regime and change it: it's about what suits the animal and Owner . I can make suggestions but they aren't my pets: I provide backup not takeover.
Did I mention I love aviary work? I can administer medicines and treatment but please don't ask me to medicate a crocodile...
