Hi, I'm Vicky.
&nbsp;As an experienced and trust worthy house and animal sitter, I would love to take care of your animals whilst you're away. I am unique as a house and animal sitter because I will be with your animals all day, every day for the duration of your holiday. I don't need to go out to work all day. If I'm walking your dogs, I will only ever walk them alone. Not with any other dogs. I will also send you photo updates so you can see your animals are happy and cared for.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;Here's a little about me and my motivation:
I've always been an animal lover.
&nbsp;I could honestly say I have never in my life met an animal that I didn't like. I come from a family of animal lovers. As I grew up my house was filled with many animals. Previous pets include dogs, cats, budgies, pigeons, chickens, tortoises, hamsters, ferrets and rabbits. I also have three years experience working with horses.&nbsp;
&nbsp;I have many years experience in dog care. I've had three pet dogs in my lifetime.
&nbsp;I also have a lot of experience in cat care.
&nbsp;Recently I spent three months working and living on site at an animal sanctuary in Thailand taking care of homeless dogs and cats. Along with dog care and walking I was in charge of the cat house.
&nbsp;It was great fun spending my days taking care of the dogs and cats.
&nbsp;My most recent pet was a lion haired rabbit called Kali. We were together for 8 years. We had the most amazing relationship and shared lots of cuddles.
Spending time with animals is an important part of my life.&nbsp;
I love to travel. I have travelled extensively around the globe.
Because of this, house and pet sitting is ideal for me.
This way I have the pleasure of caring for your animals and have the freedom to travel without worrying about or missing a furry friend back home.
I offer dog walking services, dog and cat care, small animal care, house sitting (at your house only) and house vists. Unfortunately I cannot have animals in my present home.
&nbsp;But I'm happy to stay at your home or come and visit your pet as many times a day that you like if that works better for you.&nbsp;
I'm based in Glastonbury. Kindly note: I am not a driver or a car owner. I use public transport. This means I will only house sit in homes that are no more than ninety minutes by public transport from my home. Yeovil, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Castle Cary, Glastonbury, Street, Wells and surrounding villages are fine.&nbsp;
I'm happy to travel. I accept last minute bookings.
I work as a self-employed therapist so I am flexible with times and dates. I also have some great references from previous clients.

I am available for dog walking, dog sitting and visiting your house to check up on your pets if you are away on holiday (including cats.) Depending on your schedule I may also be available for house sitting if you are away on holiday. My skills include: dog walking, looking after dogs, cats, feeding horses, looking after chickens. I am experienced in terms of house sitting for animals and dog walking. I can provide attentive care, loving attention and walks in local parks. I am based in Somerset. Regarding the type of walk your dog likes to take we can discuss routes, games and whether you can take your dog off a lead etc and I am flexible regarding my hours so we can discuss how long your dog would need to go walking. If your dog needs to take medications etc. I am willing to learn about the skills required for this. I have experience with Pawshake looking after cats and dogs and at the moment in London I live with a rescued cat owned by my housemate.I am passionate about animals and believe that they deserve to be treated kindly with respect and love and have volunteered at an orangutan rehabilitation centre in Indonesia (Orangutan Foundation International) and for a wildlife charity called Profauna. I have done animal sitting in Australia which involved looking after one dog, two horses, five chickens and three guinea fowl for one month and for four months on a separate occasion I looked after the same animals on a Wwoofing style arrangement - I walked the dog most days. In Galway in Ireland, I was invited to live with a friend for a few months in her spare room and I looked after her dogs, taking them for walks everyday which included two dogs and their five puppies. I was also asked by this friend to animal-sit her dogs while she went on holiday to America for two weeks. She also had two cats and I would feed and give attention to the cats as well. In Australia, a friend of a friend asked me to dog-sit for the weekend which included dog walking.In the past I have owned a kelpie dog on an island in West Papua which was inundated with stray dogs and so I often tried to feed the other strays. I still think of her, love her and cherish my memories - I understand that a dog is a family member and that strong bonds can be formed and the importance of treating animals with love and respect. My family have always kept dogs and cats - when I was a young child we had a dog called Sally and cats called Sophie and Bridget and more recently my mother adopted a dog from a rescue centre called Penny who I used to walk everyday when I lived at my parent's home.

I am the proud pet mum of 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs.&nbsp;
I live in Somerset with my husband.&nbsp;
Motivation
I have always been lucky enough to have pet- mad parents, so when we go away I know my pets are cared for, are in safe hands and will be happy. I don't know how pet owners who don't have that option manage which is what led me to pet sitting.&nbsp;I am a registered nurse and work from home. So as long as there is an Internet connection, I am able to earn my living. This allows me to be at home (or your home) all day and provide that consistency. It also allows me to keep my costs low, as pet boarding is something I do because I enjoy it.&nbsp;I always ask for the following information:- diet (how often, when and what)- any medications&nbsp;- any health issues- name of your vet or where you would like me to take your pet if they become unwell- emergency numbers- what your dog likes; Toy, beds, places to walk them so that I can ensure their surroundings stay as familiar as possible.When housesitting, I will then ask for further information related to maintaining the safety of your home (any alarm systems, gas and electric meters etc., should something unexpected happen) any plants you'd like me to water or birds you'd like me to feed ?I love playing games with young dogs who have tons of energy to work through. A long walk is always good, but a bit of mental stimulation is always needed and works a treat for settling a young pup down.&nbsp;For dogs who like a more sedentary life, a small walk on the beach or even around the local houses, then going home for cuddles, a treat and a good ear scratch.When in other people's homes I am incredibly respectful of your privacy and your property. I take my cues from you as to which rooms your pet(s) are most comfortable, where you prefer them to rest, sleep, walk and eat so as to maintain that consistency for them. I will not enter any area of your home you do not wish me to.&nbsp;I have two dogs who are on specialist diets (for different reasons) so I understand the importance of sticking to the diet you have in place for your pet. I am also happy to support daily grooming for long hair dogs, and regular floor sweeps for dogs that malt. My only goal is to reassure your pet and give then care and affection until you return.
