I’m Emma, a huge animal lover who has been surrounded by animals my whole life. I grew up with cats at home, so I’m very comfortable looking after them and understanding their different personalities and needs. I’ve also always been around dogs through friends, family and neighbours. I have looked after my neighbours’ dogs several times, which included feeding them according to their specific needs, walking them, playing with them, caring for younger dogs and respecting the training and habits already established by their owners.

I know that every pet is different, so my priority is always to adapt to their usual routine rather than change it. I will carefully follow all the instructions you give me regarding food, walks, sleeping habits, medication if needed, behaviour, training and anything else that is important for your pet. Their safety and comfort will always come first.

If your dog stays with me, they will never be left alone or without supervision. I will be around them throughout their stay and make sure they get plenty of attention, affection and playtime. I also have a roommate who grew up with dogs and absolutely loves them, so your pet will be surrounded by people who are comfortable and experienced with animals.

At home, I want your pet to feel as comfortable as possible. They are welcome to sleep multiple days in a row if needed (check my availability), and wherever they feel happiest and wherever you are comfortable with — in my bedroom, on the sofa, on their own bed or close to us. I have comfortable areas, blankets and toys available for them. My stairs can also be secured by closing the surrounding doors if your dog is young, elderly or has difficulty using stairs. I also have enough space in my bathroom to wash or groom your dog if necessary.

For walks, I completely adapt to your dog’s energy level, age, health and usual routine. A typical walk can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on what your dog needs and enjoys. I can take them to large parks, dog-friendly areas and appropriate off-leash areas if you specifically allow it. If they need several shorter walks instead, that is absolutely fine too. They will also be able to go outside for toilet breaks as often as they need, as I will be available and attentive to their routine throughout the day.

The same applies to food. I will follow your instructions regarding portions, feeding times, treats, allergies and any special dietary requirements. I understand how important it is not to suddenly change a pet’s routine or education, so I will always respect the rules and habits they have at home.

If you prefer your pet to stay in their own environment, I can also visit your home once or twice a day while you are away. As a student, I have free days during the week that give me plenty of time to feed them, refresh their water, clean what needs to be cleaned, play with them, give them attention and make sure everything is okay. I have also looked after rabbits and hamsters for friends, so I’m happy to care for other small pets too.

I’m especially comfortable with cats and small to medium-sized dogs, but I’m happy to discuss the needs of any pet.

Most importantly, I know how stressful it can be to leave your pet with someone else. I want you to feel reassured while you’re away, so I’ll keep you updated regularly with messages, photos and videos and let you know how your pet is doing. I will always treat them with patience, affection and attention, as if they were my own.
