Hi! I'm a 22 year old student at Edinburgh Uni and I live in a lovely shared flat in the centre. I live right next to the meadows which is a perfect spot for dog walking.
I have grown up around cats and my uncle's golden retriever Archie. I have experience looking after my two cats Sooty and Sweep and walking my neighbour's Jack Russell and feeding their cat Tiger.
I want to become a pet sitter because I love animals and I miss my pets in Yorkshire. I'm a caring person and I'm used to looking after difficult pets due to my first cat Flashie who was an unpredictable rescue cat.
I've used pawshake for the past 6 months and met some lovely pets along the way. I've pet sit a lovely spaniel/terrier cross called Holly for two weeks including an overnight stay and I've looked after a range of lovely cats. I'm a trusted pet sitter and I always get a good review. Please don't hesitate to drop me a message :)
I won't be using Eleanor again as a pet sitter. My five month old Labrador was ignored by Eleanor for 99% of the time she was there. She started off with a two hour sleep, then spent around an hour on the phone to who I can only assume was her significant other. In this time, my pup was not played with or taken outside to pee. When he peed on the training mat, she told the person on the other end of the phone that he was a bad boy. No, that's what young pups do when they're not taken outside.
Despite me leaving a note for Eleanor, she didn't read it and spent the time when not sleeping or on the phone either looking at her phone or laptop with her headphones on. Digby was taken for a walk for about 20-25 mins despite me saying that a good 45minute run in the park was needed.
Digby wanted to play with Eleanor at one point and she pushed him away from her telling him to get away from her. When my pup went to sleep from boredom, she then took a picture for her profile page. Eleanor - please remove this. I don't give my permission for you to use images of my boy.
Eleanor then forgot to feed Digby at the given time (1pm) and she left early at 2pm without telling me. She did feed Digby after she put her jacket on at this time but leaving a Labrador puppy unsupervised with unchopped food where he could choke was grossly negligent. When I confronted Eleanor about why she left early she said that he was sleeping and content when she left. A blatant lie.
We agreed she would leave between 3 & 3.30 as someone else was coming about 3.45. This would mean the minimum amount of time Digby would be left alone and my door would be unlocked as Eleanor left my keys when she left. Instead, Digby was alone for an hour and 45 mins and my door was unlocked for the same.
The reason I know all this is because I have a camera to watch my pup when he's in the house himself. I'm glad I turned it on at 3 when Eleanor was supposed to leave as this prompted me to review the days footage else I wouldn't have known any of this. Eleanor wasn't forthcoming with any information after I pressed her about whether he ate all his lunch. Probably because she wasn't even there.
I would urge caution to Eleanor's repeat customers. I daresay if Eleanor was aware I could access past footage on the camera, none of this would have happened. And to those people who were not only hosts to Eleanor but her significant other too for the duration of her stay, I'd invest in a camera. I'd also like to add that the camera was beside the TV in plain sight and is not hidden in any way.
We were really pleased to find Ellie on Pawshake. She responded quickly to our enquiry and arranged a time to come over and meet us and Olive and arrange the details of the trip. We booked at quite short notice and this didn't seem to be a problem at all. Ellie made sure that she kept in contact with us whilst we were away and sent pictures to reassure us that Olive was happy and not getting into too much trouble!
We wouldn't hesitate to book with Ellie again and would certainly recommend her to others.
