About me

My name is Isla, I am 19 years old, and I am studying chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. Outside of my studies, I love painting and reading.

I am looking to get into pet sitting to support myself through my university years, but mainly because after moving out, I miss having pets around every single day! I have grown up surrounded by animals my whole life—from chickens, rabbits, geese, and rats, to my current dog Jude (like the Beatles song!) and our cat Ziggy (like Bowie!). Having a Labrador and having grown up with Rhodesian Ridgebacks, I am very comfortable and confident with big, high-energy dogs. While I am new to professional dog sitting, I frequently cat sit for nearby friends and family and have plenty of hands-on experience.

Availability

I am a full-time student and work occasionally on weekends. I am available to pop in for home visits up to twice a day and can realistically offer one full 45-minute dog walk daily. I love taking dogs out to great local green spaces like The Meadows, Holyrood Park, or Blackford Hill.

I’m more than happy to tire out active dogs with a good game of fetch. If Edinburgh weather brings heavy rain or bad storms, I’ll shorten the outdoor walk for safety and focus on indoor playtime and toweling them off thoroughly before leaving!

After every single visit or walk, I will send you a quick update along with photos and videos via WhatsApp or email so you always know your pet is happy and well cared for.

Behavior, Safety & Health

My last dog back home was a very nervous girl, which taught me that every single animal has its own unique personality and boundaries. Whether your dog is timid, energetic, or reactive, I adapt my approach to make them feel safe and comfortable.

To ensure the best care, I’d love to know a little bit about your pet beforehand (even just a short paragraph on how they act outdoors or around other dogs!). I strictly follow safety protocols, including keeping dogs on-lead at all times during walks and staying fully aware of my surroundings.

I am very thorough when it comes to following routine instructions and am experienced in administering oral medication to cats. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will contact you immediately and head straight to your preferred local vet as required.
