Hi I'm Niki. I live in Exmouth, not far from the sea.

I used to have 2 dogs of my own, and they brought me more happiness than I could describe. Inevitably they passed on.

I worked in education and social care for over 20 years and it was

unrealistic for me to have any more dogs of my own (if only Pawshake had existed then). Now I have decided to take the plunge and do something new, that makes my heart sing.

I have signed up for dog behaviour training, volunteered for Battersea dog muddy dog care, and

set up my own business called ‘A Dog’s Best Friend’. I not only offer dog walking but also pet home visits for when you are not around to tend to and feed your little ones.

I used to get my dose of doggy energy, by volunteering to walk and care for my friends, neighbours and family’s dogs.

Now I want to extend this service to everyone, so that both your dogs, and I, can WALK, REST & PLAY together, with that total sense of fun and connection, that only one of our furry friends can bring.

I became a cat lover about 14 years ago when I met my husband, who had a gorgeous pussycat called Leo. 10 lovely years with him (Leo that is! I still have the husband).

I adore that animal energy – their vitality, acceptance, simplicity, honesty, peace, generosity and gratitude, and their lust for life. And I am revived by spending time with them; feeling that soul to soul connection, when I am able to offer them tender loving care.

So if you have any gerbils, rabbits, cats or dogs that need some love and attention, in and around the East Devon area, I would love to help out whenever I can.

I have always given 10% of my wage to charities such as PETA, The Orangutan Protection Project, Compassion in World Farming, Greenpeace and Amnesty International. So I will be donating 10% of whatever you pay me, so that more animals have the chance of a better life.
