I made a promise to myself to do something that would change my life and improve the life of another for my 60th birthday. That decision led me to adopt Ralphy, my adorable Yorkie, from a rescue centre, which completely transformed my world. 

Ralphy taught me how needy and affectionate small dogs can be, and all they truly ask for is one-on-one care. Along with Albus and Bandit—my regular boarders who are a Shih Tzu and a Schnauzer, respectively—I found that caring for three dogs was a manageable and fulfilling experience. For the past five years, I have been involved in "Petit" dog care and have cherished the unique personalities of every pet I have looked after. 

During my 28 years living overseas, I adopted a total of 15 rescue Arabian Mau cats (not all at the same time). Cats are amazing, wonderful, complex, and independent creatures. My neighbour has a beautiful British Grey named Colin, who often taps on my kitchen window to ask for some Dreamies. Across the driveway, there are three gorgeous, well-rounded cats: Nugget, Bob, and Binny. This truly is a wonderful world of pets.
