Giving Your Dog Love, Care & Comfort While You’re Away!

About alexa
Hi! I’m a 21-year-old student and a huge animal lover. I have grown up with dogs my entire life, starting with my two lovely dachshunds when I was little. Since 2024, my family has welcomed five rescue dogs, each with their own personality, background, and needs. Looking after them has taught me that no two dogs are the same, and that every dog deserves patience, kindness, and understanding.
Although I don’t have professional experience in pet care, I have years of hands-on experience caring for my own dogs every day. This includes feeding, walking, playing, grooming, and making sure they always feel safe, happy, and comfortable. Because most of my dogs are rescues, I have learned how to adapt to different temperaments, including dogs that are nervous, anxious, shy, or reactive. I know that trust takes time, so I always let dogs approach me at their own pace, respect their boundaries, avoid overwhelming them, and use calm, positive interactions to help them feel safe. If a dog becomes stressed or reactive, I remain calm and patient, never raising my voice or punishing them, as I understand these behaviours often come from fear or uncertainty.
One of my rescue dogs experiences anxiety, so I understand how important it is to keep a predictable routine, give reassurance, create a calm environment, and redirect their attention with gentle interaction or enrichment rather than adding more stress. I’ve learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is simply give a dog the time and space they need until they feel comfortable.
I also have experience caring for senior dogs. One of my current dogs is a senior, and before him I also cared for another elderly dog for many years. This has taught me to recognise when something doesn’t seem right, monitor changes in their behaviour, mobility or appetite, administer oral medication following the owner’s instructions, and react quickly if I believe something may be serious. I never take a dog’s health lightly, and if I felt there was an emergency, I would contact you immediately and seek veterinary care without hesitation if needed.
I currently offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and house sitting. Walks are usually 30–60 minutes, depending on your dog’s age, energy level, health, and routine. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, keep dogs on their normal schedule, and make sure they receive plenty of exercise, affection, mental stimulation, and attention while you’re away. During house sitting, I do my best to keep your dog’s routine as normal as possible and avoid leaving them alone for long periods whenever possible.
I’m happy to provide regular photo and video updates, so you can have complete peace of mind while you’re away. Communication is very important to me, and I’ll always keep you updated about how your dog is doing.
Most of my experience is with small and medium-sized dogs, but I am happy to care for larger breeds as well. While I have less experience with bigger dogs, I am always responsible, patient, and eager to learn each dog’s individual personality and routine.
For me, dogs are family. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your best friend with someone else, and I promise to care for them with the same love, patience, and respect that I give my own dogs. My goal is for both you and your dog to feel completely comfortable, safe, and happy from the moment we meet. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! ❤️
