Quick note: I work part-time, 8-10 hour shifts in Lindley, Huddersfield which prevent me from dog sitting long periods; cat sitting is fine as long as you're happy with me being away from the home for half the day on random days (3-4 days of the week). I'm relatively new to Pawshake however please don't mistake that for inexperience. I semi often look after my friends' cats and dogs whenever they go on holiday and I love it for mainly two reasons: One, I love hanging out, playing with and caring for my furry friends and Two, it means a lot to me that my friends trust me with their pets.&nbsp;My experience&nbsp;Over the years, I've dog and cat sat for quite a few of my friends. I believe the reason they always ask me is, not only do they trust me but also I've got to know their pets really well through play and being around them for long periods of time. Their pets are comfortable around me and me them. Having a dog growing up definitely helped me understand animals better (my wee Jack Russell, Toffee - I miss him so much! ) alas I do believe I'm naturally good with cats and dogs, regardless. My experience with dogs has ranged from looking after my friend Gail's two tiny Papillon, one very high energy and playful, the other older and more reserved, to my other friend Elisa's huge St. Bernard puppy - very friendly and sweet yet needed a lot of attention and play (and also a bit stubborn, not judging at all!). I have cat sat for my friends, Thomas and Adélie, quite a few times - they have a beautiful British Shorthair, Ravelle. I am privileged enough to have bonded with Ravelle from when he was a kitten with lots of play; I wish I could say cuddles but British Shorthair are not commonly known to be very cuddly! He is wary of most of Thomas and Adélie's friends but will happily sit very close to me when I visit, something my friends are always surprised at. I think it's because we bonded so well during those early years.Why I'm a dog walker / pet sitterThe main motivations for looking after animals is because I have decided to change my career. I'm studying to become a psychotherapist. This is much more suited to who I am as a person — I'm empathetic, caring and, ultimately, I want to help people. As I absolutely adore cats and dogs, to me, it's a no brainer to offer my services in any way I can as I'd be doing something I love and that I'm good at. I feel not only am I doing something I love but I'm helping people, which is a big part of my values and who I am as a person. Knowing your pet (let's face it, your furry child) is in safe and happy is crucial - I believe I have the experience and what it takes to just do that.&nbsp;

Hi, I’m Emma! I’ve grown up with animals and have over 40 years’ experience caring for cats, dogs, and horses. Being around animals has always been a huge part of my life, and I will always treat your pet with the same care, patience, and affection as if they were my own.
I offer reliable home visits in and around Saddleworth, allowing your pet to stay comfortable, relaxed, and stress-free in their own familiar surroundings and routine. Visits typically last around 20–30 minutes (or longer if needed), during which I’ll ensure they are fed, given fresh water, and spend quality time with them, whether that’s playtime, companionship, or simply a calm, reassuring presence.
I am very patient with shy or nervous cats and will always take the time to let them feel safe and comfortable at their own pace. I’m also happy to follow specific routines, feeding schedules, and instructions to keep everything as familiar as possible for your pet. If needed, I can assist with basic care such as administering medication or should they need, also take them to the vet.&nbsp;
I understand from personal experience how worrying it can be to leave your pets when you go away, especially house cats, and to trust someone else with their care and safety. That’s why I prioritise building trust and providing regular updates, photos, and messages while you’re away, so you always feel reassured.

Hey there, my name is Kirsty! I have been working in the animal and veterinary industry for over 10 years. I have experience working with both exotic and domestic animals. I also have my recent canine/feline first aid certificate.During my visits with your fur pets, I will provide food, water and of course enrichment and play time. I can give medication if needed and make sure your pets are well cared for.I am always more than happy to send photos and videos of your loved fur kids to keep you updated while you are away, to ensure reassurance and peace of mind.Please let me know if I can help you and your fur kids I am unable to board any pets at the moment, but more than happy to travel to you and care for your pets in their own homes. Animals have always been an important part of my life. Growing up with three Labradors and a cat taught me early on not only the joy they bring but also the responsibility, patience, and attentiveness that come with caring for them.
Today, I share my home with my cat, Max, who is a huge part of my life. Having previously travelled often for work, I know how important it is to have someone trustworthy to look after your beloved pet while you’re away. I was fortunate to have friends and family who went above and beyond for my cat, providing him with companionship as well as care — and now I’m in a position to offer the same for my clients.
I currently provide care for both cats and dogs, and I understand the different personalities and requirements each pet has. I feel truly honoured every time I’m entrusted with a pet’s wellbeing, and I take pride in ensuring they are safe, happy, and comfortable.
