Quick note: I work part-time, 8-10 hour shifts in Lindley, Huddersfield which prevent me from dog sitting long periods; cat sitting is fine as long as you're happy with me being away from the home for half the day on random days (3-4 days of the week). I'm relatively new to Pawshake however please don't mistake that for inexperience. I semi often look after my friends' cats and dogs whenever they go on holiday and I love it for mainly two reasons: One, I love hanging out, playing with and caring for my furry friends and Two, it means a lot to me that my friends trust me with their pets.&nbsp;My experience&nbsp;Over the years, I've dog and cat sat for quite a few of my friends. I believe the reason they always ask me is, not only do they trust me but also I've got to know their pets really well through play and being around them for long periods of time. Their pets are comfortable around me and me them. Having a dog growing up definitely helped me understand animals better (my wee Jack Russell, Toffee - I miss him so much! ) alas I do believe I'm naturally good with cats and dogs, regardless. My experience with dogs has ranged from looking after my friend Gail's two tiny Papillon, one very high energy and playful, the other older and more reserved, to my other friend Elisa's huge St. Bernard puppy - very friendly and sweet yet needed a lot of attention and play (and also a bit stubborn, not judging at all!). I have cat sat for my friends, Thomas and Adélie, quite a few times - they have a beautiful British Shorthair, Ravelle. I am privileged enough to have bonded with Ravelle from when he was a kitten with lots of play; I wish I could say cuddles but British Shorthair are not commonly known to be very cuddly! He is wary of most of Thomas and Adélie's friends but will happily sit very close to me when I visit, something my friends are always surprised at. I think it's because we bonded so well during those early years.Why I'm a dog walker / pet sitterThe main motivations for looking after animals is because I have decided to change my career. I'm studying to become a psychotherapist. This is much more suited to who I am as a person — I'm empathetic, caring and, ultimately, I want to help people. As I absolutely adore cats and dogs, to me, it's a no brainer to offer my services in any way I can as I'd be doing something I love and that I'm good at. I feel not only am I doing something I love but I'm helping people, which is a big part of my values and who I am as a person. Knowing your pet (let's face it, your furry child) is in safe and happy is crucial - I believe I have the experience and what it takes to just do that.&nbsp;

Hi! I’m Ruby a caring and reliable pet sitter with 8 years of hands-on experience looking after cats, small animals, and reptiles, so I’m confident handling a wide range of personalities and needs. I understand that every pet is unique, and I always take the time to learn their routine, preferences, and behaviours to keep them comfortable and stress-free.

For dogs, a typical walk is tailored to their energy level—whether that’s a calm stroll with lots of sniff breaks or a more active walk with playtime. I’m attentive to behaviour on walks and can handle nervous, excitable, or reactive pets with patience and care. For cats and smaller pets, I focus on creating a calm environment, interactive play, and respecting their space.I take most of my clients pets on walks along parks, rivers , fields and make sure walks are at least an hour and a half minimum. I make sure to give treats if allowed and praise pets accordingly! 
Visits to homes can last anywhere from 1 hour to 8 , it all depends on what you need and how you want your pet sitting! 

I carefully follow feeding routines, including specific diets or schedules, and I’m comfortable giving basic medications if needed. I stay alert to any changes in behaviour or health. In unexpected situations, I stay calm and act quickly—whether that means contacting you immediately, following your emergency instructions, or reaching out to a vet if necessary. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing always come first.
A daily routine for me sitting would be first gaining trust of the pet which is very important in every situation, a safe pet is a happy pet. Then I would ask the owner about feeding times, walking times , treats , emergency numbers ect. If it came to an emergency be rest assured that you would know ASAP. Your pet will always be safe under my loving care. 

I’m available for weekdays, weekends, and last-minute bookings, and I’m happy to adapt to your schedule. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel reassured while you’re away.

I also have my recent canine/feline first aid certificate.During my visits with your fur pets, I will provide food, water and of course enrichment and play time. I can give medication if needed and make sure your pets are well cared for.I am always more than happy to send photos and videos of your loved fur kids to keep you updated while you are away, to ensure reassurance and peace of mind.Please let me know if I can help you and your fur kids I am unable to board any pets at the moment, but more than happy to travel to you and care for your pets in their own homes. Hi I'm John, I am family man of 6 children and many grandchildren, we have had pets all our life so far, dogs which are great companions called lucky and Beauty, they were loved and cared for many years ago, love playing and walking and cuddles groomed , also we have had many cats and kittens, also loved and cared for, especially my own cat cheeky, she was a cheeky girl got In to mischief but that was her personality. She got in to trouble with community whom sadly miss treated her abused her, ever fire works attached to her , this created anxiety and depression to her life, she also got knocked over by car had her pelvis rebuilt , thankfully made full recovery with my support she got back on her feet. She has been my friend and companion for over 21 years after passing. She is still with me in my heart. She comes where ever I am. Now we have a two year old cat Harry new in our family. 
Every pet deserves the love and attentiveness and a friend. I am happy to come and spend time with your friends too.&nbsp;To help care for your loved ones and support them, sadly I am unable to provide boarding or day care in my home as I'm not licensed as of yet. But I do believe in your pets best interest they are more comfortable in their own home environment. 

I'm a 34 year old pet lover with a pet sitting and dog walking diploma I work part time at a local kennel and cattery, I started dog walking with the intention of making a little extra money and hopefully introducing my own dog to some doggy friends and socialising her more she was a rehomed to us and hadn't been socialised as a pup due to lockdown&nbsp;
