Many cat owners will understand that cats can be fussy and prefer their own home environment rather than an unfamiliar place like a cattery or cat hotel. Although some cats can adapt to cat boarding if they have to, most cats become stressed when transported somewhere new.

This is where a friendly Gateshead Pawshake cat feeder or carer can help. Our Gateshead cat sitting expert can come and visit your cat while you are away on holiday or at work. A cat sitter can even stay overnight if required, which is far less stressful than sending your feline friend to a cattery for cat boarding. Whether you just need a sitter for a couple of hours or someone to visit each day for a week, our Gateshead cat sitters can tailor their service to suit you and please even the fussiest kitty.

Although most cats are independent, having a cat carer visit has a lot of benefits. Your chosen Pawshake cat sitter can feed, freshen up the water bowl, tidy the litter tray, and spend quality time with your cat. And unlike a cattery or cat hotel, your cat can chill out in their own familiar space.

Finally, every booking with Pawshake is with a verified carer and includes the Pawshake Guarantee and veterinary coverage, so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your feline companion!

I grew up with dogs and cats — my family always had dogs around, and my god mum has kept cats my whole life, so I've been comfortable around both since I was little. I've also had the chance to handle ferrets, so I'm not fazed by the more unusual companions either. What motivates me is simple: animals are honest. They tell you exactly what they need if you pay attention, and I've always been good at reading that. I'm naturally calm and patient, which anxious or shy pets tend to respond well to. I find that animals relax around me quickly, and I take that trust seriously.I've pet sat informally for friends over the years, and I'm excited to offer that same care more widely. Every animal has its own personality and preferences, and I genuinely enjoy learning what makes each one comfortable and happy. They deserve someone who pays attention, and that's what I do best. For dogs, walks of up to 30 minutes or park play sessions of up to 60 minutes are available. For off-lead play, dogs must be well-trained and reliable to ensure their safety and prevent any accidents. For cats and indoor pets, each visit is a minimum of 30 minutes and includes play time, litter cleaning, fresh water, and food top-ups as standard. Any additional special requirements — such as specific care routines for elderly or medical-needs pets — can be discussed and agreed with owners in advance.Photo and video updates can be sent to owners during each visit if requested.

Hi, I’m Lou! I’m a recent University of Leeds graduate and a lifelong animal lover based in the Newcastle/Gosforth area. Before heading off for a ski season in France this November, I’m looking to spend my time doing something I genuinely enjoy—caring for animals.

I’ve grown up with pets and currently have both a dog and a cat of my own, so I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine and needs. Although I don’t have years of professional pet-sitting experience, I have plenty of hands-on experience caring for my own pets and helping friends and family with theirs. I know how important it is to leave your pets with someone you trust, and I’ll always care for them as if they were my own.

I’m available for dog walking, drop-in visits, pet sitting and house sitting. Dog walks can be tailored to your pet’s age, energy level and routine, whether they enjoy a gentle stroll or a longer adventure. During drop-in visits, I’ll provide fresh food and water, playtime, company and plenty of affection. For pet or house sitting, I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, making sure they feel settled, comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I’ll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can have complete peace of mind.

I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes and ages, and I’m happy to look after other small pets too. If your pet has any specific routines, dietary requirements or behavioural needs, I’ll carefully follow your instructions to make sure they receive the best possible care. If they require routine medication, I’m happy to administer it as long as I’m given clear instructions beforehand.

I understand that some pets can be nervous or anxious when their owners are away, so I’ll always be patient, calm and allow them to settle at their own pace without forcing interaction. My priority is making sure they feel safe, secure and comfortable in their own environment.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, I’ll stay calm, contact you immediately and follow any emergency instructions you’ve provided. If necessary, I’ll seek veterinary assistance straight away to make sure your pet receives the care they need.

I’m friendly, reliable and organised, with over seven years of experience working in hospitality, where I’ve developed strong communication skills, responsibility and attention to detail. My goal is simple: to make sure your pets feel safe, happy and loved while you’re away, while giving you confidence that they’re in caring and reliable hands.

I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your furry family members!

Hello my name is Athena. I am a homemaker and have 2 children, 1 cat, 1 chicken and 2 fishes at home. I’ve been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! I grew up with cats and have been taking care of them since I was a child, so I’m very familiar with their unique personalities, routines, and “cat attitudes.” I used to have a cat which was 20 years-old life. At the end of her life, I took care of all the medicine care such as subcutaneous injection and given medication etc. My experience of pet sitting was home foster for my friend's 2 cats. I put them in my living room area and provided a tent as a shelter. It made them easy to feel safe.
I’ve also helped look after a lovely 14-year-old dog, which taught me a lot about patience, gentle handling, and giving extra love to senior pets who need it. I walked my dog, did dog grooming by myself.
The main responsibilities of care include: feeding, changing water, cleaning the litter box, playing with the them, and if it's a dog, taking it for a half-hour walk, watering the plants, cleaning up trash, collecting mail, etc. Free visits are available to understand your animal's needs, once the booking is confirmed.
I truly enjoy spending time with pets and making sure they feel safe, relaxed, and loved while their humans are away. I’ll treat your pet like my own—with lots of care, attention, and affection All my family members love aniamls a lot.

Hi! I’m Roxy, a lifelong dog lover who has grown up with dogs for as long as I can remember. They have always been part of my family, so caring for them comes naturally to me. I recently moved to Newcastle for work, which means I’m no longer close to my family dogs, and I really miss having them around. Joining Pawshake is the perfect way for me to spend time doing something I genuinely love while helping owners feel confident that their pets are in caring hands.
Growing up with dogs has given me experience caring for different personalities and energy levels. I understand that every dog is unique—some love long adventures and playing fetch, while others prefer a slower-paced stroll and lots of cuddles. I’m happy to adapt to your dog’s routine, ensuring they feel comfortable, secure, and well cared for.
Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are always my priority. I always keep dogs on their lead unless instructed otherwise and it’s safe to do so, pay close attention during walks, and follow any routines or training you have in place. If your dog has any special requirements, medication, or preferences, I’m more than happy to accommodate them. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I’ll contact you immediately and follow your instructions while making sure your pet is safe.
I’m available for dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting. Walks typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on your dog’s age, energy levels, and your preferences. During visits, I’ll provide fresh food and water, toilet breaks, playtime, companionship, plenty of affection, and regular photo updates so you can see how your pet is getting on.
I’m flexible on weekends and available most afternoons and evenings during the week, making it easy to fit around your schedule.
I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet because they’re family. I’ll treat every dog as if they were my own—with patience, kindness, and lots of love. I can’t wait to meet you and your four-legged best friend!

Hello! I’m Pravalika, a student currently living in the UK and a lifelong animal lover. Back home, I have a dog named Luna who means the world to me, and being away from her has made me realise how much happiness pets bring into daily life. Spending time with animals here helps me stay connected to that joy, and that’s why I’m passionate about pet sitting and dog walking.
Along with caring for my own dog, I also walked 3–4 dogs a day in my neighbourhood. This gave me hands-on experience with different breeds, personalities, and energy levels. I’m confident handling shy pets, playful ones, and even strong pullers, always adjusting my approach to suit each dog’s unique needs.
Safety is always a priority for me—I choose safe walking routes, keep dogs comfortable, and follow any specific instructions you provide. Whether it’s sticking to feeding routines, favourite toys, or preferred play styles, I make sure your pet feels secure, understood, and loved while you’re away.
I would be happy to care for your furry friend just like I care for Luna.
