Top cities for cat sitting in United Kingdom

Many cat owners will understand that cats can be fussy and prefer their own home environment rather than an unfamiliar place like a cattery or cat hotel. Although some cats can adapt to cat boarding if they have to, most cats become stressed when transported somewhere new.

This is where a friendly Hauxton Pawshake cat feeder or carer can help. Our Hauxton cat sitting expert can come and visit your cat while you are away on holiday or at work. A cat sitter can even stay overnight if required, which is far less stressful than sending your feline friend to a cattery for cat boarding. Whether you just need a sitter for a couple of hours or someone to visit each day for a week, our Hauxton cat sitters can tailor their service to suit you and please even the fussiest kitty.

Although most cats are independent, having a cat carer visit has a lot of benefits. Your chosen Pawshake cat sitter can feed, freshen up the water bowl, tidy the litter tray, and spend quality time with your cat. And unlike a cattery or cat hotel, your cat can chill out in their own familiar space.

Finally, every booking with Pawshake is with a verified carer and includes the Pawshake Guarantee and veterinary coverage, so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your feline companion!

Hi everyone! I’m Alix, a master’s student at the University of Cambridge and originally from Boston. Back home, I have three dogs and three bunnies, so I’ve grown up surrounded by animals and absolutely love caring for them. Being across the ocean from my own pets has definitely left an animal-shaped hole in my life, so I’d love the chance to spend time with yours while helping make your life a little easier!
I’m very comfortable around animals with different personalities, energy levels, and routines. Having three dogs of my own means I have plenty of experience with walks, feeding, playtime, cuddles, and all the everyday care that comes with keeping pets happy and healthy. I also have years of experience caring for rabbits, so I’m especially happy to help with small animals as well as dogs and cats.
I’m available for dog walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and general pet sitting. I’m active and love being outdoors, so I’m more than happy to take on longer walks or energetic dogs, but I’m equally happy spending time with pets who prefer a quieter pace and some company at home.
Most importantly, I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care. I’ll treat your animals with the same attention, patience, and affection I give my own, and I’m always happy to follow their normal routine and any specific instructions you have. I’d love to meet you and your pets!

Hi! I'm Sera and I'm a final-year vet student at the University of Cambridge, and I absolutely love animals — my studies have really helped build my experience with them too. I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats, so being around them feels like second nature, and my vet training has taught me how to handle them properly, read their body language, and notice the little cues that tell you how a pet is really feeling.
I'm a warm, bubbly person and pets usually take to me pretty quickly! But I also know when a dog or cat would rather have a bit of space, and I'd never push affection on them. What matters most to me is that your pets feels happy, safe and settled while you're away. Being a vet student, I'm also confident spotting early signs that something's not quite right, staying calm if anything unexpected crops up, and knowing when it's time to call a vet — hopefully a nice bit of extra reassurance for you. I'm also experienced with giving any medications your pet needs as I was trained to do so properly and safely during my stduies , so that's one less thing to worry about.
What I offer: house sitting, dog walking, and home visits — for both dogs and cats.
About my walks: I tailor every walk to the individual dog — their breed, their fitness, and what they're already used to with you — so they get the right amount of exercise for the day. Senior dogs get a slower, steadier stroll, while younger, more active pups get something quicker and further afield. As a rough guide, expect around 30-minute walks if I'm coming more than once a day, or up to an hour for a single daily walk (always adjusted to suit your dog). I'm happy to walk up to 2 dogs, or 3 smaller ones, at a time — though for stronger dogs or any who find walking tricky, I'll just want to chat it through with you first, and I'm very happy to do separate walks if that's better for everyone.
About my check-ins: during a home visit I'll see how your pet is doing, give any meals and medications they need, and let them out into the garden for a toilet break and some fresh air — plus a bit of company and fuss, of course.
I'm more than happy to care for reactive breeds too; I'd just love to talk things through with you beforehand so I can give your pet exactly what they need.
Just so you know, I can't currently offer boarding at my own place. And great news — for the next three weeks over the summer I'm completely free, so I've got plenty of time and flexibility to give your pet lots of love and attention.
Above all, I adore animals, and I'll always treat your pet as if they were my own. I'd love to hear from you!

Hi, I’m Daisy — a UCL student who has been looking after cats for the past three years, and who happens to share her home with one elderly one of her own.

The cat sitting started casually, friends and neighbours asking for cover while they were away, but it became something I kept coming back to. Over three years you pick things up — how to spot when an animal is off, how to earn the trust of a cat who wants nothing to do with you at first, how to stick to a routine without being rigid about it. Every cat is different, and I’ve learned to adjust rather than assume.

Living with my own cat, who’s older and needs more careful attention these days, has added another layer to that. Senior pets require a quieter kind of care — noticing small changes, keeping things consistent, not rushing them. It’s taught me to be more observant across the board.

I’m a student, so I understand what it means to have a lot on and still need things covered properly. I don’t take on more than I can manage, I keep owners updated, and I treat every home I’m trusted with the same way I’d want mine treated.

I am dedicated - I show up, I pay attention, and I genuinely care about the animals I look after.

Hey! My name is Isabel. I am a uni student living in Cambridge, studying ecology and conservation. I'm in the third year of my degree course at Anglia Ruskin University. I love animals, specifically dogs and cats and have grown up around them my whole life. I have a greyhound called Betty who is my second rescue greyhound, and she is my whole world. I have a pet's first aid certification as well as an Animal care qualification from my time studying an Advanced Technical Diploma in Animal Management. I can't wait to meet your pets and care for them as if they were my own!
I am a very active person and love going for long walks, and I would love to bring your dog with me! I also offer pet sitting services where I can come into your home for 30 minutes, either one or two times a day, to check on your pet, let them out to the toilet and give them a few snuggles. I can also provide any food or medication they may require.
I am located in central Cambridge, so I can offer short, city walks, medium-length walks around local green areas, and long-distance treks. I have experience walking large breeds and rescues.

Hi! My name is Zoe! , and I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, and even geckos! Growing up surrounded by animals taught me not only how to care for them, but also how to truly understand their needs and personalities.
I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and always make it my priority to provide them with the best care, comfort, and attention while you're away. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, or just keeping them company, I provide the same level of attention and care that I’d want for my own pets.
At the moment I can't take any pets into my own home but I am happy to look after them in their homes where they are happy and comfortable! Living in Cambridge means I miss my pets a lot back home so I'm always eager to spend time with a new furry friend!
I work full time so would be available after 6pm during the week if you are away on weekdays or to take your pet for a walk. On weekends I am available to house sit, drop in or walk. I can also house sit any day of the week but do have to go in office most days so wouldn't be able to be there all day with your pet
Hope to hear from you soon!

I've been a cat mum for many years, and cats have always been a huge part of my life. I love their unique personalities and over the years, I've cared for my own cats as well as friends' cats while they've been away, so I'm very comfortable understanding feline behaviour and recognising their individual needs and routines.
As a cat owner myself, I also know how important it is to leave your beloved pet with someone you can trust. I've entrusted my own cat to sitters in the past, so I understand the reassurance that comes from knowing they're in caring, capable hands. My priority is to keep your cat happy, relaxed and as stress-free as possible by caring for them in the comfort of their own familiar environment while you're away.
I offer 30-minute home visits, which can include:

Feeding your cat and cleaning their food and water bowls.
Refilling fresh drinking water.
Cleaning the litter tray.
Spending quality time playing with your cat using their favourite toys.
Grooming, if they're happy to be brushed.
Plenty of scritches and tummy rubs (or simply quiet company if your cat prefers their own space!).
A daily update with photos and a message, so you can see how they're doing and enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind.

I'm happy to care for cats of all ages, including kittens and senior cats, provided they don't require specialist medical care beyond basic medication instructions discussed in advance. Every cat is different, and I'll always take the time to get to know their personality and respect their boundaries.
Unfortunately, I can't offer boarding in my own home, as I have a resident cat and introducing unfamiliar cats can be stressful for everyone involved. Instead, I provide visits to your home, where your cat can stay in the environment they know and love.
I work from home on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, which gives me greater flexibility for visits on those days. If you're looking for care on other days, please send me a message and I'll be happy to confirm my availability.
You can rest assured that I'll treat your cat with the same love, patience and attention that I give my own.

As a longtime cat (shorthair) and dog owner (daschund and golden retriever), and coming from a family full of pets including those with medical needs, I would love to help with looking after your furry friend! I'm happy to also do up to 2 care visits per day if needed.

Dog Walking:
My dog walks typically last between 30-45 minutes, depending on your dog’s needs. I prefer taking dogs to nearby quiet parks or calm neighbourhood areas.
In-Home Pet Care:
I love playing with pets, and will be happy to spend some time entertaining your dog, cat, or small animal in your home. I will also ensure they are fed the appropriate amounts and can also faciliate separate feedings if there is more than one cat/dog in the home. I'm comfortable with administering medications, taking in mail, and plant care for an additional fee.

I am a recent graduate who has moved back home to Cambridge. I have two dogs and a hamster here and am so happy to be able to spend more time with them again, but I understand the stress of not being able to be with them for certain reasons and needing some extra help. Having someone you can rely on to give your pet the right treatment is always a relief.
I would love to do walks or house / pet sit for any animal, I am a homebody so I'm happy to stay in and keep your pet company. I will do my best to keep them safe, happy, and comfortable whilst you are away, or take them on long walks around the area when you can't. I know how much you can care about a pet and how they enhance everyday life - I understand just how important they are and will treat them that way!

I’ve grown up surrounded by animals since I was a child, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without them. I know exactly how hard it is to leave your beloved companion with a stranger—it's a huge act of trust! That’s why I make it my mission to treat every guest as if they were my own family, providing a warm and stress-free environment. With me, your pet will never feel lonely. We’ll enjoy fun adventures at the park, long cuddle sessions on the sofa, and I will strictly follow every one of their feeding and resting habits to ensure they feel completely at ease. To keep you relaxed while you're away, I’ll send you daily photo updates and sweet videos of our time together, so you’ll never miss a moment of their day. I’m committed to providing a "home away from home" experience where your pet feels safe, happy, and truly loved. I’m patient, attentive, and ready to adapt to any special needs your pet might have.I can’t wait to meet your best friend and become their new favorite human!
